This course is open to any trained Babywearing Consultant with an interest in exploring kangaroo care and babywearing options for premature and low birthweight babies. You will:
- Understand the needs of premature and low birthweight babies and how kangaroo care and babywearing can help their physical and emotional development
- Understand the extra safety and positioning considerations when dealing with premature and low birthweight babies
- Feel confident to demonstrate a range of kangaroo care shirts, slings and baby carriers competently, explaining their features, benefits & potential disadvantages for premature and low birthweight babies
- Feel confident talking to parents and medical professionals about kangaroo care and babywearing, while understanding and addressing their concerns
