Accreditation

The School of Babywearing® offers a wide range of training courses and qualifications  to suit different needs. In order to fulfil our mission to share the benefits of babywearing to new and expectant parents as well as health professionals, the School of Babywearing® devised and delivers the first accredited training courses in babywearing to parents, health care professionals and Babywearing Consultants.

Babywearing Consultancy (Level 3)

This course was accredited by the Open Colleges Network (OCN), one of the UK’s vocational accreditation bodies as a Level Three course and is now endorsed by TLM, which is regulated by Ofqual and Dells. Successful course attendees receive the Certificate in Babywearing, which enables them to practice as a Babywearing Consultant.

Babywearing Peer Support (Level 2)

This course was accredited by the Open Colleges Network (OCN), one of the UK’s vocational accreditation bodies as a Level Two course and is now endorsed by TLM, . Successful course attendees receive a Peer Support Certficate.

TLM (The Learning Machine)

TLM is an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual and Dells, the regulators for qualifications in England and Wales. TLM is also endorsed by eskills, the Sector Skills Council for Business and IT that ensures qualifications meet the needs of industry and employers. We chose TLM when we moved some of our learning to online courses.

Does accreditation matter?

Some people find it important that their course is accredited and overseen by an outside body. Our quality is monitored and overseen via an annual Quality Review. This means that the School of Babywearing is assessed on three levels:

  • as an organisation: ensuring we have the right policies, staff & expertise to deliver the courses),
  • as trainers: making sure that everyone who runs, assesses or internally verifies our training is qualified to do so,
  • and that our training courses themselves meet strict standards.

Attending an accredited course means that you will complete a range of assessments during and after the course. Our tutor and assessor team is there to give you all the support you need to pass. Our tutors have plenty of babywearing experience, have been qualified Babywearing Consultants themselves and hold  Adult Education qualifications.

Some funding bodies, like the Prince’s Trust and local Councils that offer grants for training will fund School of Babywearing courses.
